ABOUT ME

I’m Chris (he/him), a Registered Psychologist based in Calgary working with folks throughout Alberta & BC. I truly love my work in psychology and have experience in counselling, psychological assessment, and research in a number of roles with organizations including public and private schools (e.g., Calgary Board of Education, Third Academy), University of Calgary, nonprofit organizations and charities (e.g., Skipping Stone Foundation, Distress Centre Calgary), as well as in private practice. I currently focus on providing individual counselling, group therapy, and intern supervision in my practice.

I believe that in establishing a therapeutic relationship, a safer container for experiencing can be established. I believe that much of the harm we experience occurs within relationship and that the therapeutic relationship can offer the support, safety, and connection necessary to experience repair. I believe that therapy can offer a safer space for us to explore all aspects of ourselves, away from judgment that can be dominant in other aspects of our lives. I am confident that we can work together to ensure you are supported in the ways you need and deserve. I use a number of therapeutic approaches in my practice tailored to those I work with as they navigate their way through their experiences of life.

MY BACKGROUND

I am a born and raised Calgarian and have also lived in Nova Scotia, Japan, and Scotland (the beach in Scotland pictured here is one of my favourite calming, peaceful, and relaxing places). In my downtime, I enjoy a number of hobbies, including cooking, baking, hiking, camping, curling, snowshoeing, ikebana (Japanese flower arranging), napping, and making pottery. I also like watching TV and movies (Recently, I enjoyed The Rehearsal and The Last of Us), playing pinball, playing video games (I recently bought a PS5! And have otherwise been enjoying plying Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom on Switch), reading, and trying new foods and new restaurants. I try to balance spending my time alone, with friends, and with family. I also enjoy spending time volunteering in the community. I acknowledge my status as a settler and identify as a white, cisgender, gay male. I enjoy travelling and some of my most enjoyable trips have been to South Africa, Argentina, and Indonesia.
